Aero Port Help

New to the site but I've been reading for a while! Designing a box for 2 15"s that should have ~8 cubic feet after port and sub displacement. I want it to be about 32-34hz and I've looked at a couple aero port calcs and they tell me what size but not the total port area. I feel like I'm doing something wrong because it seems like the suggested length is wayyy too small and it only calls for a single port. Also, it's a trunk car and I'll have the subs pointed towards the rear and I'm curious where to place the ports. I saw a setup with the ports coming out the rear package tray but I don't know how that worked. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If the port suggestions are very small, chances are your enclosure volume is too large. Generally, the manufacture's suggested size + 10% is about right for most applications.

The calculator on this site is pretty accurate: Products Menu

That website is very good for the measurement of the port.

Sorry to ask another question here, But I wanted to ask, does the tuning frequency affect the output/loudness of the subwoofer?

Yeah frequency affects SQ vs SPL and allows lower/higher notes. I'm 100% sure I entered everything correctly in the calc. I prefer single port and that's what it told me.... idk lol

Does the tuning have to change if the enclosure is used in a home system instead of the car?

What frequency you recommend for an enclosure of 1 SQ HDS312 to be tuned @home?

2 15s in a net 8 ft^3 should have 2 full length PSP 6" aero ports.
Alright but how could I do the math myself? If I know the port area I needed it would help. I always hear people go "yeah you need a couple 4" aeros" but never say how long... I wonder why that calc is off too.

I would use WinISD to model your sub in your desired box. Select 1 or 2 round ports.... 1st try 1 round port at 6" diameter and see what your mach is at. The mach should be in the green zone. If it is showing red, your mach is too high and you could have port noise. You can compensate by using more diameter or a longer port.

I am using One 12" sub and needed Two 3" PSP's that are around 16" long for 31hz... Something doesn't sound right for the length of a 6" port with Two 15" subs.... you should need a lot more port area.
