Advice Wanted for Build Tomorrow

Hey,

Gonna do a ported box for a friend. 1 old style Type R D2 12", powered by a Directed Audio 600D, 600w RMS @ 1ohm. Going into a '03 Honda CRV. Doing a full install so I'll put a build log up for you guys starting tomorrow with the box.

I'm gonna do the box long and narrow, keeping the sub as far back toward the hatch as possible, the box will be the width of the woofer pretty much. Port back, sub up. I was thinking I would tune to 31hz. I want it to be loud but hit all notes, not straight SPL...

Sound good? Mostly looking for tuning frequency suggestions...

Let me know! Thanks!

@FLASTRONGMAN

Edit: How do I call someone out!? This guy had a sick box for the Type R's...
i did one a couple of years ago ,tuned it at 34 hz peaked at 41 ,was doing a 141 from a trunk on 1200 watts,stock batt no big 3 and stock alt 95 neon. played very well daily too
What was the net volume? Since the CRV is a bigger cabin, do you think a 31hz tuning be likely to yield similar results to the neon box?

Thanks! I see how to do it now :)

yes the older type r's like 2.5 but 31hz might be a tad low on tuning. But that really depends on the style of box and port area.
Yes! You are here! If you would be willing to share the details on the box that pulled the hairtrick, I would be VERY appreciative! Feel free to PM me if you would rather do that.

So, 2.5 @ say.. 33hz? What would you do for port area?
That box was around 2.7 per sub and tuned to 36hz with a kerfed port. It peaked at tuning.
Thanks dude. Any idea how much port area it had? I'm thinking for the 1 sub, I'll do ~40 in^2.

And very nice Photobucket gallery. You do some great work, any beginners looking for some inspiration... Check it out, the link is in his sig. @Montana comes to mind...

thanks man much appreciated. I can't remember the exact port area on that box, it's been a couple years. 40sq in sounds about right for yours.

I've seen his gallery, in fact, I commented on it a while back. Told him how beautimus it was.
