advice on install and y connector query

For my speakers I have a 4 channel amp to connect my 2 front and 2 rear speakers.

For my sub I have a 2 channel amp.

My HU has 2 RCA outputs.

Would it be possible to connect my 4 channel amp to 1 RCA output on the head unit and my other 2 channel amp to the second RCA?

on the head unit as my previoud head unit had 3 RCA outputs. 1 RCA output for front speaker, 1 RCA output for rear speaker and 1 RCA output for sub. With this configuration would a 2 channel amp for my front and rear speaker be appropriate.

i have heard of y connectors, what are the downside of theese are where would the fit into the configuration?

i'm guessing your HU is pioneer... as some of their lower cost models have been doing this... in any case, you can hook it up this way, you will just lose the ability to fade your front and rear channels... a y adapter will work, just make sure you get quality ones, and that you hook them up off the HU... one for L one for R (that way you can still balance left and right).... as for the sub stage... the HU's that do this will have a setting within the interface to switch that pre-out from your rear channel to your sub channel... make sure you do that, so you're not sending full range to your sub amp

Bridge the amp for more power to the front,run the rears off the headunit,use the rear rcas for the sub.

Most of us don't amp the rear speakers, just fronts and sub. But yes you can Y cable the rear preouts to the sub amp and use the amp's low pass filter.

If i amp the fronts and bridge then aswell ,then on the second amp bridge aswell to the sub and have the rears running from the headunit then i can fade the rears. Does that sound like the best thing ?
