Advice needed for a complete system

Does the front dash speaker have to be extremely shallow or what depth would fit?

I don't have those dimensions available...I'm thinking there is not a lot of room to expand.

Btw, I have not seen one of those single din receivers that would fit in this dash opening...

Don't have any good under dash pics...there is probably room to expand the speaker size somewhat.

My bad I misinterpreted what you said earlier regarding 6 3/8s. Yeah, that's barely 4 and a half inches, you have to go with the vehicle specific head unit you listed.

I'd go with some alpine type Rs 6x9 coaxials, newest versions which use a much smaller but more powerful neodymium magnet. My front doors require shallow mount speakers and they work well with good sound performance.

For the speakers in the back it'll be the same game plan listed below. With the crescendos if you want to use 8s.

I'd use this for a sub woofer. Much better sound quality and output than a rockford 8.

Reason why most people stay away from rockford subwoofers are this.. misleading, cutting costs and overpriced.

the alpine 6x9 is for the front dash speaker.

Crecendo 8" are what i listed in post #6 , I saw you list the rockford punch pro 8s which are midbasses as well in your earlier post, the crescendos are proven to be very good midbass speakers at a much better price point.

The massive audio 5 channel amp i listed in post #6 is a much better upgrade over the fosgate as well.

The Alpine 6x9 referenced is for two speakers which threw me off...or are you saying to stuff both under the dash somehow? The Crecendo 8" speakers and the Alpine 12" sub is for the rear. I assume it would be ok to mount that amplifier in the rear enclosure with the speakers? What wire size do I need to be considering?

Just use one for the dash and one in the back for some higher frequency balance since the speaker has tweeters on it and the other 8" speakers dont. The retro sound speakers you chose earlier are two speakers as well so it shouldnt throw you off that much...... The sub listed was infinity not alpine.

You can also try contacting alpine to see if they will sell you only a single speaker.

You do not want to mount the amps inside the box, vibration kills amps fast and there will be a ton of vibration inside the subwoofer enclosure.

You'll want a 4 gauge amp kit from sky high car audio or knukonceptz. You will be fine with CCA(copper clad aluminium) wiring for your setup but you always have the choice to buy pure OFC(oxygen free copper) wire if you want to shell out for high quality wire but its not necessary with the amount of power you are running.

One minor change of plans...instead of the traditional radio in the dash I'm going to put a radio delete plate in it's place and run this system instead. Secetaudio SST - Secretaudio Hidden Classic Car Radio System I have a couple of questions about wiring - What gauge speaker wire do I need to run? Also, those rca jacks...do these connect between the radio and amplifier? I'm going to attempt to mount both under the dash which should require fairly short cables, right? Won't be long now until it's ready for the dash install.

If you want a hide away head unit I would suggest you look at a marine head unit from one of the better audio focussed companies. For the same price you will get a much better head unit with the same remote display setup. Here are a couple I would look at...

Hey, I'm restoring a 1966 Buick Special. In doing my research I did find a modern head unit to fit this type of dash cut out, as mine is the same. I'm not going that route because I'm building a custom console, but they do exist.

Interestingly enough, my Buick only had 2 owners, and had a cover plate for the stereo holes...as if my model didn't come with a factory radio, but someone put one in...possibly the first ever car audio installation ever...haha
