Advice for a low budget 2.1 system?

You can hook a sub up to that receiver. I have one sitting in my showroom w/ a JBL powered 10 hooked up to it. All you have to do is hook the sub up to the record out for it to get signal. Now i know that its not a sub out but it still works fine here
You could also use high level outputs if your plate amplifier supports that...

Probably less than that if you aren't including the drivers.
And, probably not much more than that if you are including the drivers.
30 days to try 'em out. Plus, these are direct from the mfg so some of the price is cut there. They have good reviews in many home audio mags and even more on avs forum. If I don't like them, it's nothing to send them back. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

If you guys think that's bad, then imagine how the polks that are $150 for the set would sound...

Do they advertise in the same home audio mags? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I've got a dim view of Stereophool and TAS...reviews like what the Mag "got" in CA&E just confirm it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I understand.

My point is, once again, the 30day in home trial. That will be the test.

I'm putting my faith in them. I know the price is low, but I'm really hoping that it truly is because I'm buying mfg direct. I'll post a review when I get them.

x2...

Keep the spirit...

Hell, they go through the trouble of using 1" mdf, so I figure they would go through the trouble of making a good set of bookshelfs.

Has anyone really had any bad experiences with them?
From the sounds of it, no. They just see the price and assume it's not possible to get good sound.

But, really, if you think about it...if you bought Daytons and built a cabinet you could get it for the same price, and not many people have an issue with their sound.

The best part, is that the speakers are going to be a christmas present. If I don't like them I also have the option of upgrading to their $180/speaker 532 line. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

DIY is a totally different issue //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Sub outs aren't needed if your plate amp has high level inputs. I've yet to own anything yet that has subwoofer outputs...

I know (my car is/was DIY). Point was that price doesn't always reflect quality.

$100 for a small midrange and tweeter might be about right, considering they are getting the drivers cheap, probably relatively the same as the Daytons cost. That was my point...that it's very possible the quality of drivers are the same.

I never thought about HLI for the subwoofer. Oh well. I wound up buying a Denon AVR-587 for $200 bnib at CC due to someone misplacing their marketing causing them to give me the reeiver at that price. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
