Adjusting gain HU vs amp

I have a Kenwood KFC-BT955HD. Does it matter if I adjust the gain on the HU over the amp? Can I turn the gain on the amp all the way up and lower it on the HU?

If u turn the gain all the way up u might as well throw away ur amp and subs .

Always set the headunit to zero everything.

Then gain on amp to 0

Pick up a dmm there like 5-6 dollars.

And tune ur amp this way

What's the difference with doing it on the HU vs amp? I do have a couple dimms and a clamp.
