Adire Shiva's?

Well, i know that adire makes a pretty mean woofer called the brahma. I know that a jl 12w3v2 sub is a really good sub. Does the shiva, in any way, compare to what the w3 can put out. I dont care about the woofers lives, im talking stait output. Which one sounds better in a nice 1cu.ft. box off the recommended wattage?

My friend will be a proud owner of a Shiva in a couple of days.

Mind you he only paid $75 for it(new from Adire)

Id go for the Shiva since im biased to better subs

wow howd u get that sub for $75? anyway i have 2 shivas each in a cube sealed off a jbl 600.1 my buddy has 2 w3v2 12's in a cube each sealed off a jl 500/1. we both feel mine have better output and sq. id take the shiva over a w3 anyday.

I had a shiva in my car in both 1 and 2 cubes and 1 didn't sound very good but 2 was AWSOME. Definately 2-2.5 cubes sealed will make the shiva sound good....1 cube you might be better off going with the jl but I don't know I've only heard w3v2's in bigger sealed boxes.

Also, in a Mazda 626, will one shiva be enough? I don't mind the cost, but if each one needs 2.5 cubes sealed, I do mind the box size. I listen to everything but jazz, classical, and country. I like it to pound enough to shake the mirror a little (as a point of reference), but I don't need ear-splitting power.

If I do decide to go with only one sub, what can beat the shiva all-around without exceeding $250? I'm mostly interested in sq, but need enough loudness to bump. I have a feeling I won't need more than one shiva, but I haven't heard much, so let me know.

How large of an enclosure?

I've ran 1, 1.5, 1.75, 2, and 2.5 cubes sealed per driver so far. The best results for my truck (not a truck box, this is a center console) was 1.75ft^3 sealed per driver - sounded the best to my ears - which shouldn't mean much to you.

Single Shiva in a regular cab truck should be plenty for most.

You don't necessarily need 2.5 cubes sealed per driver ... as I mentioned before, I've ran two in that volume. The results weren't optimal, at least to me, so I bumped it up a little bit. I'd look to give up around 4ft^3 - 5ft^3. Tempest an option for you?

Yeah, I'm considering a Tempest. I can fit it in vertically. I know it will be louder and hit lower, but will it loose any sq over the shiva? Will it loose any upper-bass over the shiva? Because I like upper-bass that punches you rather than low-bass that just rattles everything. I've listened to Three 6 Mafia and Lil Jon and didn't like that type of bass at all. I like the bass in songs from Michael Jackson, eminem, and some nelly. Varying frequencies with some punch. As long as the tempest doesn't loose any upper-bass, I'm cool. That's the only thing that worries me about the tempest.

Tempests rock. I've done a lot of installs with them and they sound great. And the reason I was saying 2-2.5 cubes for the shiva is because around 2.5 cubes what you need for a .707 QTC alignment, which is preferable to most people. 2 cubes would sound good too but the smaller you go the more low end your sacrificing and the less even the frequency response will be. If your gunna go with a tempest it likes a 4.5 cubes box sealed, but would still sound good as low as 2.5 or 3.
