Adding "L" to the SQ....

So, I've been working on this SQ setup in my tC that sounds very good to me. But, I realized I'll never probably compete SQ and I'm wanting a little more loud but still want my mids and highs to be well pronounced over the bass like it is now. I'm considering some different things for my sub stage, but, first I want to make sure I have will have loud enough mids and highs. Here's where it get's a little crazy (setup is in my sig BTW):

1) I want to be able to at least keep a good center image, but am willing to sacrifice other psycho-acoustic effects like depth and some of my imaging in hopes of making it a little louder.

2) I want to run rears (don't ask why, I just like rear speakers I was gonna run them in my SQ setup eventually too, properly processed of course) , preferably full range.

Some ideas I had were in no particular order:

1) 2 Sets of Passive 2 Way Comps up front from the Aura Amp, with rears off of the Memphis 2 Channel that is now pushing my tweets. I was going to use my HU's active and processing abilities to delay, attenuate and maybe filter the rears if necessary to keep them from screwing up my sound stage too bad. (I am aware of the phasing issues that could come with multiple drivers up front playing the same frequencies, but I had 2 sets of comps before and it seemed to work, even though I'm a little more picky now than I was back then)

2) One Set of 3 way Passive Comps up front, with rears processed the same way as option 1.

3) One Set of 2 way Passive Comps up front, rears processed same way as option 1

4) Stay active, double up on front stage drivers, run rears on a small 2 channel amp with outputs from my Aura amp. Wont be able to delay them, but can attenuate and they'll be bandpassed at same freqs as my front mids.

5) Keep the same front stage actively and add rears the same way as option 4.

Cliffs: Want louder mids and highs to match soon to be upgraded sub stage, while still being able to atleast keep a good center image in my sound stage. How should I go about it?

you won't like my answer but, You need morel or dyn

and 3/4ways arn't for getting louder, they are for more detail and less distortion.
Hmm...If I go Morel or Dyn, u think a single 2 way up front, and rears would suffice?

Main reason I was considering 3 way front was so that when I go to crank it, my midbass doesnt mess with my midrange too much.

yeah it was what I was running for a while. I'd go diy on the 2way though and only run mids in the rears.

you could go 3way but it isn't going to be fun to tune in, I didn't have any problems with muddy midrange with my morels though.

So, just upgrade my front stage drivers and add rear mids....doesnt sound too bad....and my midbass doesn't muddy up my midrange now, but I wasn't sure how good some other car audio comp sets would do in that regard as alot of times they seem to be a downgrade from DIY drivers.

Maybe I should try just adding rears to my current setup and see how much of a difference it makes....they won't be delayed or anthing but they'll share the bandpass of my front mids and I can attenuate em.....

I'm still kinda worried about that though. I mean my fronts are loud now (probably loud enough for most ppl, and too loud for some) I run my subs at about -4 now to keep things leveled out the way I like them since I HATE bass overpowering the vocals, If I'm going to be doing a louder sub stage, I think I'll need a pretty nice sized jump in output for my mids and highs. Are Morels and Dyns that much louder?

They are loud as hell, but they want a lot of power. They are probably the loudest 2 speakers in the sq range.
My Aura supposedly does about 175wrms @ 4 ohms, 13v from a bench test I read somewhere...its rated 150x2 at 4 ohms though...think that'll be enough or will they want more?

and which ones would you recommend? My budget isn't like yours now bro....unless it absolutely needs to be....

I thought about em, but when I auditioned Hertz stuff I didnt really think their comps were worth the prices....except the Millle...

yeah morels are going to want like 300, these are decently loud while still being cheap and will work best on your amp.

WoofersEtc.com - CXS64 V2 - Image Dynamics 6.5" 4 Ohm Component System
Guess that gives me a reason to buy that Boston GT2300 or GT28 I've been eyeing for a while.....

Those ID's look darn nice though....especially if I got the 2 ohm versions and ran a rated 225wrms per side or according to a "bench test" that said this:

first and foremost, the amp is underrated, in real world its

175 wrms x 2 @ 4 ohms stereo

325 wrms x2 @ 2 ohms stereo

650 rms x 1 @ 4 ohm bridged,

all at 13.5 volts

if you get a 4channel amp you could get the 2ohm comp set and another pair of 2 ohm mids ran on the back channels so you can turn them down more then the front.
Yea, I was thinking of swapping the 2 channel Memphis for a 4 channel and using the front channels for the active front tweets and the rear channels for my rear mids, with my Aura still pushing the front mids....

why do u want to run rears?
I just have always preferred the sound of cars with rears. But, with my SQ setup, I want/wanted to run rears to increase the room size by recreating back wall reflections with delayed, lowpassed, attenuated rears....probably something similar if I go louder too
