ok so i have a pioneer 8300ub. a hifonics hfi200d, and 2 jl WOs in an isobaric box (plexiglass front). everythings blue so i bought some blues LEDs to put inside the box to shine on the subs. so i know i shouldnt run the LEDs and the amp off the remote wire. so i hooked up a relay with a 12v wire that i already have ran to my trunk. but it isnt realy workin cus i hooked it up according to this diagram:
mad_electrical_relay-b.jpg
and the amp and leds would turn on even with the stereo off. so idk if its a faulty relay or a wiring problem but according to that diagram its all right. i dont want to run a switch. help plz?

Ok let me see if I have this right, you have the relay coil hooked into the remote wire to trip this relay to give power to your LED's right...and no dice on the shinny? Make sure the LED's have pos power to the right side, if thats all right might need to break out the voltmeter and make sure the relay is tripping

it was a bad relay got a new one problem solved thanks though

Yeah kinda, see even though the amplifier isn't on the power and ground terminals are still attached to the voltage source which means there is a constant 12v running across them. But it isnt until the remote wire becomes active that the amp places a load on the voltage and draws substantial current, which is when your pretty lights come on. But by putting LED on that constant voltage, it will put a load on in and draw current through it. I don't know how much experience you have with electricity, but if you want to learn more there are ALOT of technical files online from places like Car Alarm, Car Stereo, Mobile Video, and Cruise Control Info for Installers
