Adding another gun to my collection

I wouldnt leave it out in the open while your truck is parked. Expect your truck to get broken into and expect to be responsible for whatever bad happens when the crackhead who steals it kills someone with it.
Id keep it hidden somewhere, but you would need to get a permit.
I stopped by the local sherrifs office yesterday and talked to them about it. They told me that the only time you would need a permit is if you can conceal it on you. You can keep it in the truck with no problems.

870 is a nice and reliable, proven shotgun. Nice choice.

Im a Browning man myself (for shotguns anyway)//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I have a Browning 12 guage as well. But I only use it for hunting.

Are you sure about that?

From packing.org:

"790.25 (5)(5) Lawful Ownership, Possession, and Use of Firearms and Other Weapons

It is not necessary to have a license or permit to carry a loaded firearm in a private vehicle, so long as the gun is "securely encased". Florida law defines a weapon as being securely encased if the firearm is in a glove compartment, whether or not locked, in a snapped holster (not worn on your body!), in a zippered gun case or in a box or other container that requires a lid or cover to be lifted or opened in order to gain access to the firearm. These restrictions do not apply to any person who holds a valid Florida Concealed Weapon License or a reciprocal state license/permit."

But you have enough money for one or more guns? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

Just saying, living in a place where shootings are common place....just don't understand why people do it. There are tons of jobs around the country, tons of grants to even help you move.

I just don't understand it....if you are buying a gun to "be safe"..and it is worth that investment...is it not worth more to move and be really safe?

For starters, alot of the people here dot have the money it takes to move away to a better place. The jobs dont get much better around here either. You take what you can get.

Intelligent response...but I will bite. As my response says..not antigun...hunting is great. But carrying a gun makes it MORE likely you get hurt/killed..right? right.

And lets be real, Canada is tougher on guns...and FAR lower crime/gun crime rate. Interesting correlation there..lol. So lets look at the Wild west man..everyone had a gun there...and tons of crime. Then we look at places with few guns, and lower crime..espescially violent. Go figure.

I got nothing against guns, love hunting, target shooting. The point at which you "need" to carry to feel safe...that is a serious problem. If you have anything INTELLIGENT to say..love to hear it...otherwise go back to sticking your head in the sand..and enjoy your life.

Shut the **** up. You should carry a gun EVERYWHERE, not just in places you absolutely need it. If everyone did this there would be very little crime. Im not too suprised since you are an antigun Canadian. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

The difference in what your suggesting is to move, id rather just use common sense & keep myself out of situations were a gun would be needed, plus the fact that a gun is usually (obviously depends on the model) well under a $1000.

Moving on the other hand cost well in excess of $100,000 not to mention the fact that its not that bad around here. I just work in an oddball area of town and its literally just 1 city block thats messed up. Miles in either direction are quite. Not once have I had a problem at my home.

Being 100% safe is not possible, but as said before id rather have it and never need it then need it and not have it. You can run into a nutcase anywere at anytime. Sure 99% of the time nothing ever happens, but should something happen and a loved one is with you what are you going to do? Call the cops and hope they show up in time? While your completly at the mercy of someone else for however long it is?

Comon man, just because some of us carry a firearm doesnt mean we are paranoid. Sure the above situation is an extremly rare one and will probably never happen. I sure hope it doesnt, but you just never know,

Hey man, not talking about being paranoid. Just seems if safety is your concern...then it doesn't make sense.

Bottom line...you are more likely to get hurt/killed carrying a gun then if you don't. So I can't believe the argument ...just in case...protect a loved one. I mean, again you increase the risk of something bad happening...not decrease it. How do you rationalize around that?

As to moving...no idea why it would cost 100,000. I have moved ..with selling/buying house, etc. - always well under 5,000. The only thing I could think that would make it that expensive is due to losses related to deprication of a house, or purchase of a new more expensive house. You can't really count that as there are many options around that.

So for me..it is common man...carrying a gun with you makes it more likely you will get hurt..or a loved one. Period.

If people..said hey..I got this cool gun cause I love guns..and like the power of carrying one... I would say cool... whatever your choice. But to say it is to keep you..or someone you love safe is just not the FACT. If you believe in stats enough to say...there is a risk I will get attcked...then you have to believe them enough to know carrying a gun is a far greater risk.

As to Canadian being *******...well you are welcome to come to my place and test that theory //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Do you guys not think that if you need a friggin gun in your truck to do your regular job (i.e. your not a security guard) that either
1. Find a better job

2. Move!

Guns, hunting = the good. Really though...why live in a place you "NEED" to carry guns around.
hes a cable guy....making good money, and 19....he doesnt live in a bad place, just has to travel into them to make his money. good money isnt easy to get most times. shut the hell up and move on.

how in the WORLD does carrying a weapon make YOU more able to be injured. Thats like me having a baseball glove in my trunk is going to put me in the situation to play baseball more often LOL. thats the craziest shit ive heard in a long time. If someone comes up to you with a knife in hand wanting your car you payed YOUR money for, or trying to take YOUR WIFE, YOUR KID, YOU LOVED ONE, and you dont have any sort of weapon......your SOL in my book. Id much rather have a pistol/shotgun/firearm of some kind to at LEAST scare them away. 90% of the time you dont shoot, its the fact a double barrel shotty is pointing at there temple that makes them leave.

As I said man...that is the statistics. Even when they account for area, crime rate and socio economic factors. If you carry a gun, you are more likely to be injured by one then if you don't.

This is not just from self injury, but carrying a gun often escalates a situation to where a gun is used. So where normally both parties would have walked away, or there would have been limited violence...it ends up with one party injured by the gun. YES...the criminals get injured more as well...but again..the bottom line is you are FAR more likely to be injured by a gun if you carry one. If you don't believe me, look it up. Don't just spout your opinion man... do some research. You may FEEL you are safer...but in fact you put you, kids, wife, family, etc. at greater risk by carrying one.

So in your scenario...the guy comes after your car with a knife...who the hell cares..let them have it..collect insurance...you are much more likely to ALL go home uninjured then if you pull the gun. You pull the gun...then what? The robber retaliates... you try to shoot...mabye you hit him...maybe he stabs you or your WIFE or KIDS in the process. Maybe he has a buddy with a gun on you. The history of such incidents tells the story man.

how in the WORLD does carrying a weapon make YOU more able to be injured.
As to the pizza guy..understand man...you have to make cash. But is making that little bit extra cash worth it if you feel your are so in danger that you need to carry a gun. Lots of jobs out there.
