adding another battery question..

I will be running 1200 rms in my civic. Im wondering what battery I can add, or replace it? Could I replace my front battery with a optima red top, and does it have enough power for that and 1200rms?

or should I add the redtop/yellowtop to the rear hatch?

Get a yellowtop under for under your hood, and if you still get headlights dimming, then you can buy the same size yellowtop for the trunk. By having 2 of the same size batts you won't need a solenoid/isolator (unless you want to play music with car off, then solenoid/isolator are a good idea)

But if you mix batts, then you need to isolate them.

reds are for starting, yellows are for starting and car audio. You should get the largest batt that will fit under your hood. Try optimas website.

so with that high output 165 amp alternator, would I just need one optima to power my civic ,and my 1200w rms subs/amp?

here's my plan with my hatch, i have a 99. I am going to get a high output alternator from alterstart and a 51r yellowtop for under the hood and one for the trunk. i will be running 1/0 all the way back to/from both batteries and to the amps. I'm going to have 3000 watts.

so what should I do for just 1200 rms? Just get a high output alternator and 51r under the hood? I dont need 1/0 yet, I researched and 4ga just loses like 12 rms when you run 1200rms.

nevermind alterstart is on ebay. how hard was it to swap out? did you do the big 3?

ur system isn't that big. just do either a kinetik hc1400 or powermaster d5100 up front and do the big3 upgrade. that should eliminate all dimming.

In the future I would like to maybe add another amp for the door/6x9's and then maybe another amp for subs, and upgrade to hdcs or something

or maybe ill fall in love with these sdc's and settle.

ull never settle. I used to think all I'd need is 1 10 and an amp, now I've been through over 40 subs and 30 amps in 8 years
