Greetings fellow car audiophiles! I was wondering if anyone has any experience adding an amp and subs to a stock head unit... I have a 2011 Hyuundai Elantra Touring stock radio - four speakers but no sub-out. I'm trying to connect it up to my Elemental Designs NINe.2x amp which is driving 2 Eclipse 12" subs in a ported box. What I've tried to do is parallel off of the rear speaker outputs by soldering RCA jacks across the outputs and sending that back to the amp. I think this is causing the radio to overload since it is designed for 4-ohm speakers, and when paralleling the speakers and the amp, which is also 4 ohms, the combination results in a 2-ohm load and the radio cuts out when I turn up the volume. Next I tried cutting the rear speaker outputs completely, then sending the output from the head unit back to the amp inputs, then using the amp's output jacks to connect back to the rear speakers, but this results in no sound whatsoever from the rear speakers. I'm not sure that this is the correct way to use the output from the amp, so if anyone else happens to have the specs on the Elemental Designs NINe.2x that would be helpful. I've installed many amps and subs in various vehicles, but this setup is giving me fits! Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
