Adding a sub

Currently i have 2 twelve in type R's. If i add one more type R would this make it sound any better/louder? Or should i just port my box. I just dont want to spend 200 dollars on a box if im just going to want to add another sub after i purchase the box. My box is currently a sealed box. I know a ported box would be louder but what would three subs ported sound in comparison to two subs ported. Also would i need to upgrade my amp? Would a Hifonics bxi2006d handle 3 subs or would i need to uograde that too? The amp is rated at 2000 watts, but of course its prob. overrated.

just go ported with the two you have now. about 4cuft. at 32-35hz. should work good for you.
How can adding another sub not help performance? 100 dollars aint shit to me and i can buy a new sub for about 100 dollars so why not do it?

Here is why. Lets assume that you currently have two Dual 4 ohm subs, wired to 1 ohm final load. To add another one, you will have to rewire. and will lose power from your amp, or drop the load below 1 ohm, and possibly ruin the amp.

You will have to build a new box for another sub.

You will have to spend money to buy a new sub, and have someone else install it.

or, you can get a quality box build, since it doesnt sound like you do any of your own system, you can run it with your current amp, and have no wiring issues. And at the end of the day, it will probably be louder than 3 sealed subs.
