adding a second alt

because i was just thinking what if i just buy an extra alt for my amp just for that purpose only to run the amp and the other for my car any ideas.

Any newer sytle car will be next to impossible to fit one just for the "packaging" of one. Wiring depends on the make/year of the car. The Regulator would be your biggest obstacle, maybe if you externally regulate the second unit you might be able to acheive your goal.

The way I have seen it done is the replacement of the a/c compressor with the new alternator. Your best bet is it externally regulate it, and run it only to the betteries you have in the back. If it's only doing audio equipment you can probably run 16-18 volts, depends on the amp.

ok i was thinking about doing this have one alt for my car and the other form my system the alts would never be put together the second alt would be hooked up to the battery in the trunk any ideas on that. hope that helps you guys a little better any ideas.
