I will be adding a 2nd batt. more likely a yellow top, I need to know what to use for a battery isolator? i have a 1996 olds88 ls with a 3000 motor and a 120amp alt. I have the big 3 done I`m running a dei 2400d sub amp and a pg xenon 200.2 amp when my bass hits hard my lights dim....any other suggestions besides a cap which i will not be doing.?

I Might get shot for saying this but o well.

You dont need the Isolator.

Second you might get away with adding a battery but a new alt would be the best way to go.

you will lose voltage with an isolator.

the only purpose of one is for strictly using your 2nd battery to power your system while your ignition is off, while preventing drain on your primary batt.

sounds to me like you're trying to battle voltage drops, so an isolator would actually be counterproductive to what you're trying to accomplish.

well, the isolator will have an alternator hookup, and then the two outputs to your batteries.

that's what an isolator does, is charge your batteries.

it just does it independantly, rather than as one circuit.

and yes, if you intend to use your stereo with the car off, you SHOULD use an isolator.

or save yourself the $$, and get better performance the other 99% of the time, and simply choose not to use your stereo with the car off, or simply let the car idle.

ok if i save myself some$$, what would be the best battery that i could buy that will be a good starter batt. as well as a good batt. to use with my car off? I hope i`m explaining this correct
