Hey guys!
So my 2002 3.2 TL Acura stock stereo went out on me a few weeks ago. It was working fine, went to class for an hour, came back and it just didn't turn on with the ignition. Even the anti-theft light stopped flashing and it doesn't ask for a code. but the buttons still all lit up (because my headlights were on which also lights up all the other buttons). So I thought it was a fuse problem. Opened the passenger side panel and checked the fuse, but it didn't appear to be blown. When I plugged it back in, the stock stereo cassette started making some winding noise, so I thought "awesome! It's working again." Turned on my car and it's still not working but I concluded that it's getting power. Checked the fuses under the hood and on the driver's side and nothing seems to be blown. Can't find what gives. Took apart the console to check if it's a lose wiring, but I didn't know much about wiring so I couldn't find a problem. Decided to give the mechanics a call and will be bringing it in this Saturday.
About 4 days ago, I turned on my car and what happens? My car stereo started working and asked for a code. HURRAY! Put in my code and thought the problem was all over. But the day after, it stopped working...again. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
So today I was checking the fuse again, and when I unplugged it, it seemed fine? When I plugged it back in, the cassette wasn't making that winding noise like before. Thought that meant that the fuse was the problem. Switched the fuse and still no winding noise. Switch another fuse and the winding noise was back! Turned on my car and the stereo still isn't working!!! D:
Do you guys know what could have possibly happened that made my stereo work again for just a short period? I'm thinking a wire just shorted but I'm not too sure.
If my stereo is a bust, do you guys have any after market stereo you want to recommend for my second generation Acura? I love this car, it's my baby. Everything is running great besides this issue that recently occurred.
Please help.
tl;dr car stock stereo stopped working. fuses were okay. car stereo worked again for one day, then it stopped working again, fuses still seem to be okay. Did a wire shorted? Should I get a new head unit? What do you recommend?
