Active Xover question

Would most tweets be safe in the 30-50 watt range with out an active x? I'm using a Pioneer GM-x542 to power the tweets and the mids. The amp allows for dual inputs (the same amp can play two diff songs, essentially...) and has seperate gains. I'll power the tweets with one "side" of the amp, and the mids with the other, using the tweeter and midbass docks from the active xover.

I just want to be sure it will work before I go ahead and do it.

you'll need some form of filtering. doesn't matter if it is pre-amplifer or post amplifier. just that it isn't made to play too low.
