First i just want to say hello, im new here //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif
So ive been lurking the forums for a bit now and speced out a system which i will be installing in my 07 sti. At first i was just gonna go with a generic passive component set hooked up to a 2channel amp....then after much research i decided to take the plung into an active x-over setup for the tunablility aspects of being able to set cross over points, db slopes etc (still not 100% on tuning, but i learn fast).
Setup:
Kenwood DNX 8120 HU ($750 refurbed)
Kenwood KAC-X4R amp with DSP ($280 w/3 yr warrenty)
Pioneer TS-C720PRS ($220 new)
32 sq ft of raamat and ensolite CCF ($190 from website).
= $1440
I want a HU that is double din, navi and has Ipod controls. From my research it seems the Kenwood DNX series are the way to go (garmin navi, quicker startup than F90BT, good ipod controls, little to no delay in pushing buttons).
Since i want a double din HU with touch screen, that weeded out any good SQ HU (Pioneer DEH 8000 etc) that have active x-overs built in. That made me choose the Kenwood KAC-X4R with DSP. The DSP should give me enough control/tuning abilities to get it to where i like. Also this amp has an active sub output that would allow me to add another channel for a sub later down the road.
Speakers: Ive read a lot of rants and raves about this set. The only bad part being the passive x-over (hence why i want to go active). Seems they have great midbass and decent highs. More important, they will fit in my doors (no more than 2.65").
So can you guys critique my setup? Would anybody change anything? Mainly my speaker choice? I mainly listen to rap/hip-hop, pop, techno, some classic rock, rock, 80's lol.
Thanks in advance!
