Active...what did I get into?

Yeah it's in network mode. I think that I have a ground issue. I think I have alternator whine, I hear it through the tweets and at 0 volume with my ear by the tweet it sounds like a very quiet tick, as I rev the motor the pace increases, and as I increase the gain the volume of the tick increases. I'll reground my hu and see what happends. I hope that the sub "thump" that I heard was related to this and it too will be cured with a better ground. I really hope that I wont have to ghetto rig the rca's like I've seen in other posts.

You need to check your crossover ASAP. You have already damaged your tweet.

What tweet is it and report back as to where the crossover point is set at...

It was alternator whine! I didn't think that's what it was because it was more of a tick, but it turned into a whine as the rpm's rose. I regrounded everything and still had the problem, so I grounded the rcas and the noise is gone. Now that I have that fixed it's time to set crossovers and gains. I plan on setting my sub amp gains with a dmm and test tone like I always have and then set my 4 channels gains by ear after I set the crossovers. Would this be the recommended way of doing it?

My tweets and mids weren't playing full range. My crossovers were not dialed in yet, but they were within safe limits. The gains were never moved past 0 until the crossovers were generally close. The noise has been fixed, and it was my rca's. Thanks to everyone for helping. Now this post can be filed away into the reference section, and hopefully someone will find it before they spend hours trying to diagnose a simple problem that they have over complicated.

What were the settings of the tweet and mid? Seriously though, you HAVE to set xovers prior to doing any, especially any loud listening.

I forget what the default is.

id say a safe place to start with the tweets is a highpass on 1.8k with 18db slope and the midbass id start at 80 on 12db slobe and maybe 1.2k at 12db just to get ur gains and stuff set then adjust from there
