active speakers set up question?

well I'm running type r components and will be switching to an active set up from my 860mp premier, the question is I know that the alpine type r componets have tweeter protection in the passive crossover box so is their a way I can run active and still have the tweeter high level signal run threw the crossover box so I can still have the tweeter protection. or is it really a bad idea and freq's will get lost in the conversion? any info will help thanks again guys/gals

running the tweeter with the passive xover defeats the purpose of running active. as you are still using the xover adjustments from the passive set.

just set the xover point and the slope accordingly on your 860 for the tweeter output . Your tweeter has a certain range it can play. keep it within that region.
