Would a Dayton RS180 4ohm paired with a Vifa D26NC55 work well together? They would be crossed over using a Pioneer p860mp's internal xover. How much power should I send each of them.

What would be the prime crossover point for this setup? How much equalizing would I need?

~$73 shipped on the 2 Dayton 7" and ~$60 shipped on the Vifa tweet

i haven't heard anything about the vifa tweet. but maybe look at the FR graph and maybe you can get an idea on how to crosso them. you probably need to at least get a tweeter that can cross pretty low because the daytons start to breakup at around 2khz or so.

as for power, dunno really. im sure the daytons would sound really well off of 75-100 watts. tweeters dont need much power to get them going.

as for prime crossover pts, you my friend are in the active world now, let you your ears decide the xover pts and how much equalization is needed.

Ive never done an active setup before....ever. I will be pretty lost. How big of an EQ would be needed/recommended?

After reading some reviews...the Seas TDFC seems to be the best performing tweeter and at only $32 at madisound, thats an amazing deal! The CA18RNX also seems to be an amazing deal at $58, with near excels performance.

yea if you can fit a large format tweet in the car, those seas tweeters from what i hear are awesome. better than most high end tweets. honestly going active isn't that hard. theres sort of a learning curve at first, but once you get past that its not that bad. i mean i'm still learning myself. i cross my speakers quite often and still trying to find the right xover pts and slopes.

as for EQ, is the eq on the HU PEQ? if so how many bands? i mean if you aren't hardcore like myself maybe all you need is 4-6 band PEQ. it should be sufficient.

also go to diymobileaudio.com. you'll lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of info.

mounting depth //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif . i barely fit the seas in my car, when i mean barely, i mean barely. when i intially installed them, when i rolled down the windows, the windows literally skidded to the mid. so then i just added some clay to get some clearance and the windows seem to clear it now.

lol...ya Im probably going to have to build kickpanels. Im also considering Ology Audios midbass speakers, if those are ever released.

How does the LPG26NFA compare to the Seas 27TDFC?

Could I bridge a 4 channel amp (4ohms) to 8ohms bridged per side (which should be the same power as 2ohm, correct?). Its very hard to get any power out of an amp @ 8ohm for a reasonable cost.

The LPGs would be a safe bet, tons of people over on diy running the LPGs with Dayton RS180s and happy about it.... I've also heard lots of good things about the TDFC... if you can fit a large format tweeter, i could almost guarantee you those will be better off than the LPGs...

I've been waiting for the Ology drivers forever... those will be amazing once they come out, who knows how far off that will be though...

yea some people run the dayton and lpg setup but the daytons breakup around 2khz and lpg's aren't recommended any lower than 3khz. so you have a lil frequency gap there, not a bad thing though. but you know some people are anal like that. i've herad good things about the seas.
