Active Crossovers

Current setup:- BMW 325ci

Speakers: CDT EF-61CFi components

Sub : Image Dynamics ID10d2 v3

Amp : Alpine PDX 4.150 (2ch to fronts and 2ch bridged to sub)

Right now, i have the sound faded just to the fronts,,the rears are not in use at all. Sometimes i do wonder if there is actually a TINY ITTY BITTY noise coming from them - havent really test it out yet...but anyways..

I am looking to get rid of the crossovers that came with the CDT comps. Bare in mind, that i am new to this so a VERY small and simple/basic, but yet highly effective active crossover...

Ive been looking at different crossovers, but i JUST HAVE NO IDEA which one i CAN or CAN'T USE based on my particular setup..

Look into either the Eclipse CD7100 or the Pioneer 880PRS. Those are Headunits with built in active crossovers.

Thanks for the suggestion, but i am using the stock HU and i dont think i will ever use and aftermarket HU in this particular car..i just prefer the OEM unit..

I would an external crossover that can maybe stack on top of the amp... or EVEN BETTER idea i had just thought off..

A 4 channel AMP with built in active crossover..not the HP or LP settings..an actual amp with many different dials i can play with:crazy: so i can ditch the ugly passives..

Ooops,, just started to do some research....

I need a four channel amp..i mean i do..but channels 3/4 are for the sub..

Can someone explain to me if i am right or wrong.? Can i still go active with my particular setup? I only want to go active on the front components which will mean i need 4 channels? Correct? Any alternatives to maybe get some sort of sound processing?

To run a 2-way front stage you need 4 channels of amplification. Then either a mono or two channel for your sub. So for an amp you need to be looking for a 5 channel or 6 channel.

My pick for a all in one solution is the new ARC KAR 900.6 I am not sure how the crossover are on it yet but if they are flexible enough no need for external processing for active.

Second Choice is the New Audison LRx 6.9 which would again be all you needed. If interested in one of these PM 3.5max6spd on here.

Last option and a little cheaper is the ED Nine.5 which again will serve all your needs. Not the quality of ARC and Audison but still a good amp for the money.IMO

If you can find a JL Audio 500/5 again serves all your needs.

He have some options on retaining the stock HU. Something like a RF 3sixty, JL Clean Sweep, Alpine 650, AudioControl DQL8, LC6i, LC7 or just use you standard LOC. LOC being the last choice but the cheapest.IMO

When you go with something like the 650, DQL8 they have all your processing internal with x-over, EQ ect. You have to decide where you want to do your processing at the amp or do you want to do it in a OEM integration piece.

You will need to do some research before you go active if you have not. Make sure you have an understanding of it before you just start trying things.

I want to able to get rid of my passives and run just the amp(of the above recommendations).
