active crossover question

I'm going to be putting in your standard 3 Way calls over and the highs are pretty easy set the deck the flat at the full range crossover does the work but when it comes to your subwoofer where should the deck be set at and where should your amp be set at,what I was thinking is the deck amp crossover all the way up crossover all the way up and then set the atctive crossover to where i want it?
