Very true. People fail to put themselves in uncomfortable scenarios because it makes you step out of your comfort level. Say you were born into a life that is portrayed by the picture... people dying all around due to starvation / AIDS... would you want a country like the US to help you out? Of course. I agree with whoever mentioned the billions upon billions of dollars being spent on an unnecessary war. I fully agree that the US should help Africa in whatever ways possible for a better future. I know there is not a guaranteed solution to the problem but it's hard to understand how some of you can casually joke about a picture that shows an African child about to die. It's a real problem that needs to be dealt with.
Poverty in the US is bad... hell, my mom made around $11,000 a year to raise me and my little brother on. The US government does help out a lot (welfare, disability, financial aid). I think it's time to start helping out some of the countries where the original picture is a daily occurrence though. It's pitiful that you can make jokes about a picture like that though with no remorse for the people living their life like that.
