ABC box help

ok just got a new vehicle an want to make a new box for the suv.. my system isnt the best but here it is

2 audiobahn 12" subs 1100rms each (high end q's)

2 audiobahn 10" natural sound subs 300rms each

2 Lanzar vibe268 2000watt amps

1 lanzar vibe238 800watt amp

yellowtop in the engine, marine deepcycle in the back. bat isolator in between

right now ive got a dual reflex square ported box 5cu ft. ported to about 36hz.

i was going to build another just like what i had, till i heard such great things about ABC boxes..

i still want to have 5cu ft. total for the 12's so ive got enough room for 1.5cu ft angled boxes for each of the 10's.

my orignal idea however was to resess the subs and have plexy glass over them (mostly for looks) but i think that would mess up the abc design right?? itd turn it into a bandbass box with dual ported chambers.... so i guess my question is: how can i still get the plexy glass look without interfering with the abc design?? can i put vents in the first chamber to fix that problem?? (1st chamber being the space between the subs an the glass)..

second question would pointing the subs str8 up be a bad idea?? or should i lower them inside the box so they face completly sideways?? (its a pathfinder SUV)

which way would be the best, i realy dont want to build more than this final box....

thx

ps, i want the 12's to put out all my bass, the 10's my mids, an the components all the highs.. an i dont know what sq is or spl, i just want somthing that will make head rattle.....

you do realize that having two different sets of subwoofers is more of a hindrence (unless crossed over perfectly) than a help?

and any kind of midrange comming from behind you really screws up your soundstage and imaging... not to mention cancelation issues //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

imagine being at a concert with the drummer behind you and the rest of the band in front of you. id also be wary of your amplifiers, they tend to be overrated (alot) and not very good on the durability side to boot.

as far as make noise? just a good sized ported box would suffice. bandpass and abc boxes are a bit over-engineered for my likes. they tend to yield very similar results as a well built ported enclosure.

sq is the definition of soundquality, and by the sound of it, you dont care for it. in essance, the ability to reproduce the source material as if you were there when they were recording it.

spl is the definition of sound pressure level, or for lack of a better definition - f*cking loud.

as far as the subs doing bass, and so on and so forth, a good active crossover (good i said, no lanzar crap) like a coustic XM7 would be able to lowpass your subs, band pass the mids, and highpass the highs giving you full controll of what speaker recieves what frequencies.

to me, it sounds like you need to read a bit more information before you start cramming speakers inside your vehicle.

nah nah they're in seperate boxes...... all of them :p

there all touching but not working with the smae air space

Having all of those drivers in the same install, playing the same frequencies, are going to lead to some major cancellation issues...

i vote for selling everything and getting something better //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Seriously though, you should listen to what e1 said cuz they all have valid points. I would never run that 2 10 then 2 15 and the box....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

well thanks for the info... i dont plan in sellin any of my ****, i know its not the best but it definatly isnt crap. ive got a crossover, basicaly my set up is

0-36hz are on my 12" subs

37-80hz are my 10" subs

an the rest are my comps.

NONE OF them are sharing the same air space inside any enclosure. they each work in a single reflex operation

you do realise that the 10s are doing almost all of the work, and that if you just straight up ran the 2 12s youd probably get better sound and it would probably be louder given those xover settings. The in car response is more than likely just horrible set up like that.... 2 10s, or 2 12s, choose.

xeleventybillion.

UNLESS you buy some 10's made for MIDBASS (ie = not audiobling) and cross them over from like 90hz to like 200hz and put them up front eaither in your doors or in kickpods (depending on where the tweets and midrange are) and use the onboard crossover on the sub amplifier to lowpass the subs from ~90hz down... and then use the crossover you have (im hoping it has bandpass) to bandpass the 10's and highpass the mids and\or highs.

but a 3-way frontstage is gonna take one hell of a crossover //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

so they would still cause problems?? how?? i thought it was relativly simple idea. 12's in a ported box for the deep bass. (ie; most rap)

10's in a sealed box for responsive mid pounding (ie; most rock)

an the rest in my comps....

how will the 12's an 10's interfere wit each other? its not even gonna be close to the same feq comming out of em.... i dont get it.

educate me, feed me im hungry :p
