ABC Box Good or Bad???

i was lookin some stuff up about ABC boxes and some people say that they are great and some say that they are a waste of time and make no diffrence

my question is that would a ABC box be a good idea for a 13w7 or is it just a waste of my time to make one and i should just make a regular slot port box?

im lookin for it to get as loud as it can go, while it still sounds decent, but it has to still be able to hit the lows well

In your case, a regular ported box probably will be the best for you.

But I'd wait and talk to 60ndown. The ABC box design I made for him is for a 12W7.

Once he builds it, you'll be able to find out if thats the type of sound your looking for.

It was a waste of time for me. I made one with the exact specs of a ported enclosure I was using and it made very little difference. It was 3 cubes tuned to 30 and 57 and both of those points looked correct from cone excursion. It also had the same amount of port area as the 3 cubes @ 29 enclosure I was using.

The only thing I noticed was more cone control. There was no audible difference to the ear at the higher tuning.

I would only use a design like this if you were tuning around 20hz and using a low excursion driver. The reason behind it would be to limit cone movement between 20-40hz.

so basically all this box will do is give you more cone control and not more output?

That is what I experienced. I've only made one and I tried it with two subs. Both had the same outcome. The response was smoother than the ported box though. It wasn't really noticeable except on some songs and even then, it was hard to tell the difference.

I like it. I couldn't tell you how it compares to other ported boxes. This is the first ported of any type I have built. All my other prior boxes have been sealed.
