A truck no more

That ***** for sure, but as you said at least your wife is ok and the kids weren't with her. Its only time and money both of which can be replaced compared to a human life which can't be.

Least we can expect a kick-ass build log to pop up somewhere in the future //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

There must be something in the air lately. I had someone from on-coming traffic make a left hand turn right in front of me (into me really) without 1) using a turn signal, or 2) without even looking to see if anyone is coming. Now who in the hell makes a left hand turn on a busy street without even looking to see if anyone is coming? Sad part is her car wasn't hurt bad, while my truck was totaled. ****ing stupid *****.
Well its not like you were an easy to see target or anything, driving that small, dark vehicle on a quiet street in the middle of the night. I mean come on give her a little slack //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif Its amazing the stupidity of some drivers, especially to not be able to see a bright red pickup truck coming the other way, certainly not something easy to just block out of your mind.

its been a bad year for a few of us around here. i lost my car and i know there as been like 10 threads after my accident about how some one car was fu cked up in a accident. its funny most of the time it was some one eles fault. I have all ways heard loud music can mess with your driving but in most cases its been the othere person fault. Example not lookin when they turn just stupid, not coming to a stop and slaming in to the back of some ones car/truck im just lost for words about that. And for me some punk kid going threw a light and messing up my back and hands.

**** thats a bummer. glad the wifes ok and if you havent thought about it I would buy that truck from the insurance company (will prob be like $500) and part it out making more money than you spent. A good friend of mine had a seizure while driving and totaled his truck but he was ok. Salvaged all his audio equipment and bought the truck back for $500 to part out.

It's on a lot. The insurance is most likely going to total it which is fine. We did kinda need a more family suited vehicle for travel, and surprisingly I'm not as upset as I thought I might have been. There has been a lot of time put into that vehicle for sure. One of the worst parts was that I had just had the transmission overhauled 3 weeks ago. I will at least get a little extra from the insurance company for that. The speakers have all been pulled out and I'm going to get receipts from my installer showing the amount of labor and work that went into the install to see if they will cover some of those costs as well.

The accident was her fault and no other cars were involved luckily because of how she ended up any other cars would have been them hitting her head on as she faced southbound in the northbound lane. She reached down for something and when she looked up to get her bearings she was coming up to an exit lane so her lane was really wide and I think spacially she thought she was in the middle of the lane but actually was headed for the metal barrier splitting the tollway and the exit. Which would explain how the tire was torn off... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I've talked to the insurance guy and hes going to look at it tomorrow I think but he's feeling it will be totaled as well.

So your saying once we settle on the vehicle to try and buy it back for parts?

yea once its totaled out, the insurance company will let you buy it back for fairly cheap. Then you take all the salvageable parts off and sell them. (ie: doors, fenders, seats, tailgate, bed cover, lights, etc.) could pull that tranny and sell it for to get your money back for the overhaul

Okay, Ive been going through this EXACT same thing for a few months now. A little advice. Get receipts. Get receipts. And oh yeah..... GET RECEIPTS! That transmission cost, will be fully covered provided you have a receipt. Turn it in to the insurance company, along with ANY other receipts you can find. Make sure they are aware you have receipts, they will send you forms to fill out and send back with them.
And NO, do not try to buy the vehicle back AFTER you settle. That should be part of the settlement. My truck did not sustain nearly the damage yours did (mine the front clip is destroyed, and minor frame damage to front stub, no cab damage to speak of... and they totaled my truck, and Im buying it back for $50. 1998 dodge ram. *shrug* I'll straighten the frame, hang a new front clip on it, and sell it for a nice profit.

x2 I've never done the buy back myself but have had a few friends do it to either part the vehicle out or fix it. So as far as how to buy it back (part of settlement or not) Im not reliable to ask.

Well put it this way, once the settlement is reached, your leverage diminishes drastically. Right? Right. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

AllState originally wanted $950 to buy back my truck. Did I forget to mention that part? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

haha I see your point now and buying it back for $50 is nutts!

If you look at my gallery I should have pics before the accident...if not I will post here.

She's a good driver, this was just a spot of bad luck.
