A thousand dollar budget in a ford 150

its only a 95 amp alternator //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif so I will suggest he does the big 3 and that was a good head unit so so far we have

Pioneer DEH-3400UB - $100

KCA 1/0 Power Amplifier Installation Kit-$70

10ft for big 3 upgrade-$20

box(estimate)-$150

so were at a total of 340

so I have 660 left to spend on subs. and amp? hmmm

As far as subs go, I'm not really versed in the SPL aspect of car audio, so here's where I'll probably take my leave. You should have him upgrade his battery though. You could get rid of the KnuKonceptz wiring and go for Cadence. That would save a bit of money as well.

unless he already has a majority of the materials. good luck building a box for 50 bucks
You can totally do a box for under 50 if you have a way to cut the wood. There are places in town that will cut it for you so all you need is a jigsaw to make the round holes. Figure $30-35 for a sheet of wood and $10 for screws and glue and thats less than $50.

These trucks are easy to installs in... How much space does he wanna use?
the entire back seats gone.... have you instaled in one of these?

Sounds easy but. . . our wood working skills stop at 8th grade shop class. I figure it would be one or two sheets of mdf and a sheet runs 35 dollars if I remember correctly but your right they will cut it... I was planning on having him purchase plans from pro rabbit or someone on here.

Still Im lost as far as subs go I was thinking a fi 12? but then there wont be enough money left in the budget to power it so then I thought two sa-15's? what do you guys think?

Yep I owned a 97 and my buddy has a 2 98's we have done...

Mdf is about $30/sheet at Home Depot and Lowes. Sometimes you can get them to cut it. Toledo Plywood charges $23/sheet and cuts are .75 each, after cuts it usually comes out to around $30-35. After that all you need to do is cut out the circle for the woofer which is easy. You can get up to about 4.5-5cu/ft per sheet. It's a lot easier than you think. I'd even be willing to lend you guys a hand, I have some 4inch pvc that was given to me for free that I could donate.

Did you remove the back seats? how did you mount the subs? wall it? and where did you mount the amp? hah sorry allot of questions but the space is limited and im still trying to help him with design im sure what ever I come up with beats two jl w3s sitting on the back seat in a pre fab

So when you say his goals are mostly spl oriented are you talking he just wants loud as fawk or actually wants to compete?
loud as fawk

clamps. paint. silicone. carpet?

My truck was only a 2 door and all I had to do was take out the front seats which was 6 bolts, then it was easier then any car to instal
