I realize its a terrible deal and I'd never spend money on one. I was talking about the commercial brands that produce deep bass.

I would never buy a servo drive sub or a JL gotham...diy products would SMASH them in every aspect.

I'd make 2 line array open baffle towers with 5 TC Sounds 18" LMS-5400s each and cross it over to 10 TC Sounds 18" LMS-5400s in a sealed linkwitz transforum setup

the Fans competition...(rich people looking for a HT subwoofer wouldnt know what diy is)

and...you're definetley wrong about the Fan setup.

It CAN do 1hz with great authority! It has a constant RPM and switches the pitches of the blades to create insane volumes of swept air. Its nothing to mess with.

the ambient noise from the fan...makes it only acceptable for IB use at the moment.

Do you KNOW what a parthenon is? It was capeable of over 12 cubic feet of linear displacement. It wasnt exactly a DIY project either.

340l of air is 58 times the linear displacement of my avalanche 18...

29 times the linear displacement of an XXX 18...assumeing it would even be able to do its maximum linear displacement.

And who the hell are you to say it is worth anything? Have you personally heard one?

Only if you expect the same level of output at 1hz as at 16hz...otherwise it doesn't require any certain displacement to get 1hz, just a transducer and a signal.

The real question is who other than some stupid rich snake oil buyer would care about being able to theoretically reproduce sound 1)that can't be anywhere near heard and 2)is not on any source material anyway?

If you dont believe that the fan can do 1hz...then fine, but if you're looking for evidence go over to diyaudio.com. There are several threads talking about it.

a tweeter could reach 1hz with ease...

all it is is 1 cycle per second...thats all. It wouldnt be difficult at all for something to vibrate at 1hz.

Reaching 1Hz at a level which can be senced by humans.

1Hz would feel more like going in and out of an airplane on ascent than anything else.... It isnt needed, I dont even think there is a movie track that drops that low. 5-6Hz is the lowest ive seen.

And ive been on DIYaudio.com. I used to be a reletively active member. Pretty much everyone thought it was neat but 1Hz is USELESS. This thing showed up over there about 2 years ago.
