a) RMS is a measure of wattage. So is Max or Peak. Saying "watts not rms" does look ignorant. Please refrain from doing so in the future.

b) That statement about "I'm a private seller - I don't have to have customer service" is the biggest load of crap I have ever heard in my life. Once you have a customer you should provide CS. /story

c) If the seller provided inaccurate output ratings because those ratings were honestly to the best of his knowledge then there's no real fault there. As the buyer failed to do all available diligent research (how could you skip that step buying anything online?!?) that only served to further the confusion.

On the flipside of the same coin, however, if the seller intentionally misrepresented the item knowing full well that his assertion of 500w RMS X 2 (as seen in the PM) was false then that is inarguably false advertising. Additionally it could be considered Theft By Fraud in some jurisdictions as the intent of that fraud, if there was any, was financial gain.

At this stage in the game it is going to be impossible to tell which was actually the case, sadly... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif And knowing that little tidbit of information would be the defining factor in whether or not iceman is owed a refund.

At the end of this, however, this should serve as a good lesson for iceman. It's clearly outlined in the thread I made in the Classifieds that the mod team was kind enough to sticky ~ Research Research Research. DO lots of it. Do it until your eyeballs are sore from all the online reading. Find out more information about any given product that you are considering buying than the people that manufactured it even know about it.

After you've exhausted all possible avenues to gain information and you've still decided to go ahead with the purchase?

Then go get it.

Someone said one of the first 3 results when you Google that amp is a store selling it for $89. If that's true (I haven't looked for myself) and you were still willing to unass $140 for it from dbman?? Caveat Emptor indeed...

Thanks prowelr I did try to research at crunchs website but nothing was found. Like I said I assumed it was brand new and jumped on it assuming it was a great deal by the info given to me.

Also what does Caveat Emptor mean?

I looked the amp up myself. It says rated RMS power is 250 to 500. 250x2@4ohm stereo, 500x2@2ohm stereo, 1000x1@4ohm mono. He gave you the proper #'s for that amp as stated by the Crunch website. The only thing is MAYBE he got the model # wrong, but I would like to think that anyone with average intelligence could figure out that a pzi2250(his #) and a pzi250.2(actual #) are the same amp. You got no case to be pissed off IMO as the specs he gave you were right of Crunch's website. Maybe you should take your case up with them and make them refund your money as they are the ones who "lied" to you.

Here's my concise take on the situation:

The seller didn't do anything that is deserving of a refund. Did he lie? No, not really. Do I think he knew this amp will never do anywhere near 500x2? Judging by his dB Drag background, I don't see how he couldn't have known it wouldn't do near that power.

Did the seller properly look into the amp he was throwing money at? No- and that's pretty much the bottom line.

If you walk into a shop, and see a Pyle amp sitting there, and you ask the salesman, "How much power does this do?", and the salesman tells you, "1000 watts RMS," which is stated in the amplifier's manual, is he in the wrong- even if he knew that amp wouldn't do it's advertised power? Possibly unethical, yes, but I don't see how you can fault him for it.

Yeah that sux lol... but money isnt really the issue here. What pisses me off is that the amp is nowhere near as powerful as he indicated which really blows. That is why I want the refund.
Hey got a question, first off I have done business with dbman150 and had nothing but great luck, Also I sell a ton of these amps and I want to know, have you hooked this amp up? The rated watts for RMS power is 250x2 through maxxsonics, but we have done a lot of testing on maxxsonics amplifiers, and they are very underrated. The fuse ratin on this amplifier is 2- 40 amp fuses, and has been clamped to do in the neighborhood of 412-435 watts RMS. From what I have read, your subs are rated at about this amount of power. I have installed about 120-130 of these amplifiers since they came out in my shop, and at 2 ohm they will do some impressive power and are very reliable! Lets sasy even if he was saying 500 RMS per channel and you get 435 RMS a channel out of it, your not losing much. I am not trying to argue for either party, I am just saying you got a great deal on a great amplifier. I am pretty sure that he will honor your warranty on the amp and he is a great seller. I also want to say, try the amp out before putting it down! These are great amps and work especially well for the subs you have //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Thanks

Also a great point!
