A new cold war coming?

We're not getting involved military wise we are over stretched as it with a force that is strained from constant deployments. In addition, the Democrats would never allow it giving the concern of the economy and they're the ones up for re-election.
On top of that entering into a major war on an election year would put the next president in an akward position assuming it goes that long of course.

By harden you mean piss off and punch out?

I mean harden in the sense that many new weapon/field technologies/tactics are able to be tested on the battlefield. The various branches gain valuable experience which can be applied to future conflicts.

Just curious as many of the folks who I see deploy every week don't have the same feelings as you do.

It seems easy for someone to say that they "test" the new stuff, but the reality is that some that test them don't come home, I think that's what flip is kinda getting at. It's not rhat hard to sit behind a desk and wait for the test results to come back after someone dies using it. Not being a dick at all it's just a little more than testing out some new toy.

I have several family members and many friends over there now myself. No one wants to go to a sandy, inhospitible wasteland of a country, and spend months lugging around heavy gear and being shot at. Military service is voluntary however. If you make a choice to join, you should be willing to accept the possibility that you may have to fight, and possibly die. You should have a pretty good idea of what youre in for if you've joined up within the past 5 years. I was not trying to come across as a cold with my statements earlier, but the way I look at it, if youre going to participate in a conflict, you might as well use all the tactics and technologies at your disposal to win.

Well, since he won't mention what SPO he works at....or RDT&E center...then I don't know. I don't think we will see any additional 3600 $ from Congress for this conflict.

i dont know. supposedly retention in the corps is up. not so sure about the army. the marines are giving out record bonuses for the service though. they tried to get me wiht 72 but i still told them to get fucked

lots of stories of people wanting to go on deployments and switching units in order to deploy more. of course othyer than long hours my deploiyment was pretty easy, considering. other than the risk of eing shot down by sa fire.
