It seems like Russia is starting to escalate attacks in Georgia where they are experiencing a rebel uprising in a region near the Russian Border.

Russia dispatched an armored column into the breakaway enclave of South Ossetia on Friday after Georgia, a staunch U.S. ally, launched a surprise offensive to crush separatists. Witnesses said hundreds of civilians were killed. Fighting reportedly raged well into the night with Georgia's interior ministry saying early Saturday that warplanes attacked three Georgian military bases and key facilities for shipping oil to the West.

Apparently Russia wants to unite South Ossetia with North Ossetia (under Russian control).

But Georgia is a "staunch US Ally" and contributes the 3rd most troops in Iraq in the coalition of the "willing".

Your thoughts? This world is getting more and more fukked up.

Not Militarily maybe, but I don't see them letting Russia attack and take over that region, espicially since Georgia is so strongly alligned with the US, in a...not so friendly region.

That being said, that's kinda why i put, "COLD WAR".

we already did involve ourself. a guy my girlfriend works with who is a marine just came back from georgia on monday. they were there for a month training the georgia military.

basically in a nutshell georgia wants to join NATO and Russia doesnt want them to. at least thats what my friend told me.

and just deal with it people. 6 friends of mine have come back from Iraq in the last 6 months and they ALL say its only a matter of time till we are in war with Iran. its going to happen.
