A little wirring and sub box design help

Okay, I have a new system in the progress. My new sub is a Treo TSX 12", and the amp behind it is a brand new Audiobahn Digital A8001DT. I scored a pretty good deal on both of them so I couldn't pass it up. Please guide and direct me to wirring the sub up, (the amp is a mono channel amp and the sub had dual voice coils, please give me the best insight for running my sub from my amp... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ) Also, I need alittle advice for a box. Most likely I will build my own box due to a strict budget. So I may just go with a sealed 1.25 cubic ft. box, but if you all know of anything that may work better please let me know. Thanks for the help.

Don't hold me to it, but I believe it is a 4ohm sub. I have never delt with a dual voice coil sub before so I need a little guidance for wirring this puppy. thanks

Well if you have a dual voice coil sub, that is 'normal', which I'm sure yours is, you have three options to wire it. IF your sub is the dual four ohm that you think it is, you have the following options:

1. Wire the two coils in parallel which means that you would wire VC1's positive to VC2's positive, and the same with the negatives. Then you would give the power to either coil. If you did this, it would make your amp see a 2ohm load, which will be the most efficent I believe.

2. Wire the coils in series which means that you would wire VC1's positive to VC2's negative, and do the same with the other one. This will make your amp see an 8 ohm load, in essence giving it probably about 10 watts RMS. :hehe:

3. Third and final option, which wont work with your amp particularily, is to have a dual channel amp, or dual amps, and wire each voice coil to its own channel, making the amps see 4 ohm load on each channel in your case.

I'm at school, and am not familiar with audiobahn stuff, but when I get home, I can get you better specs, that fit your specific equipment.
