a lil help for a new guy

I have been out of the audio sence for a few years even when I was in I had crap walmart stuff I recently got 2 12" diamond audio d6's and a diamond audio d6 1200.1 amp the subs I think are 4 ohm I was wondering if it would be safe to wire them to a 1 ohm load since the amp is stable there but it would be putting the subs to the max any help is apperciated

You purchased great stuff. Make sure the subs are in a good box and you should be fine. Make sure you have a clean signal going to your amp though.

Visit rockfordfosgate.com, they having a wiring wizard there that works well. Please make sure you have decent wiring going to the amp, if it does 1200rms, I would recommend 1/0 guage but 4guage will be okay but not great. It'll get you by, and make sure your electrical is up to par. If not expect dimming.

I have a ported memphis box I'm not sure the specs I just want to make sure I don't blow the subs

If you take measurements you could find out. My advice if you plan on keep them for a while build a box, if not just throw them in there. What Is the box designed for, what Memphis subs?

I'm not sure which memphis subs it goes with but its a beastly box it takes up most of my trunk

So I shouldn't have a problem blowing the subs? And I had another ? The d6 amp is a mono channel but it has 2 speaker terminals why is that?

I say get a box with specific specs for the subs. you shouldnt have any issues with a a 2 ohm load on each sub to make 1 ohm on the amp. also, the extra speaker wire terminals are for flexibility in wireing subs. hope that helps you out.

So I could wire the subs for a 2 ohm load to the terminals on the box then wire each terminal to one set of the terminals on the amp to get the 1 ohm load?

or, you can wire each sub to 2 ohm and the wire both subs together and only have 1 + wire and 1 - wire going to the amp.

Alright thank you guys for the help and I'm going to look into geting a special box I think I'm want to fiber glass my trunk since its to small to put stuff in there anyways and get another set of 12's and another amp
