A good sub for sound quality

^

PE web page mentioned in box recommendations "Vented 4.0 cubic ft. (net internal, not including driver or port volume) tuned to 20 Hz " and "Sealed 3.0 cubic ft. (net internal), f3 of 34 Hz with a 0.707 Qtc alignment". Those box specs are probably off in a car, but still the box parameters don't look good for a car application. Dayton Reference HO can work in a relatively small enclosure for either sealed or ported and that's why it gives much better utility as a mobile sub.

We ordered a dcon 12 svc 4ohm. And I was gonna buy a re audio dts 1000.1 amp 340w at rms at 4 ohms for 99 bucks is it a good budget amp. And I want to put it in a sealed box until I have enough money to build a custom tuned box

How would a ported ground shaker box sound it's prefab but I just want a ported design and have no tools at the time or no money to pay 150 for a box

Or just stick with the sealed box until I can buy a tuned box??

One decent prefab subwoofer is Alpine SBR-s83v. It's Alpine's Type-R8 subwoofer in a small custom box that's tuned low. The R8 itself is an excellent driver to begin with, and the box was built with more emphasis on sound quality. On the same power, it should sound as loud as 10 in a sealed box, and perhaps better in the 30-50Hz region. The only issue is that the R8 will not handle too much power, specially in low tuned box. My understanding these speakers may start to smell or run out of excursion (in a low tuned box) when pushed hard with >500watt amp. The RMS watt spec is 350watts. So people who build a custom box, prefer to have a pair of these.

polk mm's are a nice choice for sound quality and loudness. they are articulate and stay clean at loud volumes better than alot of subs too.
I have a question about the polks suggested. Do you know if a sealed box will still be loud for a single sub setup.

No, it won't be loud. It will sound good though. I built a 2 cubes @ 30 hz box for a MM1240 (best FR curve in WinISD) for a family member back in the summer. It sounds most excellent, but I doubt I would have liked the output if it were sealed.
