i NEVER said that the illegal immigrants should be allowed to stay or anything of that sort. I was merely trying to tell people to not believe everything they read and to try to get the facts straight before htey make ignorant comments like "GTFO!!" I dont know much about the subject because i don't feel as strongly as about it. So yes, you're right I'm sure there are a lot of REAL facts that are astonishing. What I'm trying to point out is that people pass judgement too quickly on a certain type of people when tehy're given iffy "facts" about them. Try to see both sides of the story. I'm sure there are also facts that show they help this country in SOME way or the another.

the big argument here is that illegals are a drain on the economy right? WRONG. our economy is a market capitolist economy. meaning that our economy is competitive. we compete to keep prices down for the consumer while making as big of a profit is possible. So its simple math, if you cost of production is smaller (aka labor), there is more profit possibility, or prices stay down for consumers. so if a commodity such as strarberries cost 1.00 lb, with higher cost of production it would cost alot more.
In other words, they are not placing any strain on the econmy. they are helping keep prices down. so they stablize our economy.

You want to talk about a real DRAIN on the econmy, OUTSOURCING. would you rather talk about losing low paying jobs, or high paying jobs that are completly leaving the country. with immigrant workers they are taking low paying wages, but outsourcing takes highly paid technical jobs.

This whole issue is used as a political tool. the real problem is the republicans are facing losing seats in congress. think about it. during the presidental race the issue was gay marriage. when was the last time you heard about it? you dont. its a tool used. now its this.

Not quite, you must have learned your economics from NBC or something. So yes, there is a demand for cheap labor and yes this helps keep the cost down. However have illegal resident aliens is not the only solution for this. Having resident LEGAL aliens whether temporary or not would make for a much better solution. Also these illegals do much more than pick strawberries. They also paint, do framing, drive trucks, work in retail (mostly the kids who speak english), etc etc etc. These people are driving down the wages for the "poor" of America who have neglected to get an education that brings them up to skilled positions. While it's not exactly a drain it does hurt the wages of americans.

Where the real drain happens is on governement services. Each child in oregon gets ~12,000 a year worth of education. So all the illegal children in our schools are draining 12k a year, then add on all the bi-lingual bs at the government level, WIC, housing subsidies and other various governemnt programs and suddenly you have a drain....

ohh and outsourcing wouldn't be a bad thing in strictly "economic" terms... it's called specialization....

A couple of years ago the I.R.S issued thousands of ITIN numbers so the illegals could pay taxes...

That is the job of the employer to take those taxes out. If he is already risking hiring the illegal (yes it ALREADY IS ILLEGAL) then why would he bother to collect taxes and pay them under what would likely be a fake SSN if one was even provided; only increases his chances of being caught.

and if they did all pay taxes it would likely hit billions.. not just "millions"

and they DO claim all sorts of government services, at least here in Oregon. They have "matricula" days where ONLY illegals are allowed to come (yup, legal immigrants and citizens have been kicked out) get matricula cards and register for Oregon social services...

I was saying since they are illegal the taxes are never collected and paid because it increases the chances that the gov will notice the company has illegals. In oregon they are signed up for stuff all the time and it may be illegal for them to do so in Cali but I bet you $50 your worthless state gov just sidesteps that law (ours does it all the time) and gives them services anyways like education.
