a few ? about tweeters and mid-bass speakers .

hi guys,

first, tweeters are the bigger the better ? say 1/2 verses a 2"

i don't like that harshness of some tweeters and was wandering if i go with 2" will it sound better or ??

also would 8" be good mid-bass speakers ?

i don't now what i want so im looking at everything. from 6-1/2 components to getting my tweeter and mids and running of an amp.

i don't know...

The wider the tweeter the more of a wide stage they can produce. And size MIDBASS speaker is a good midbass. A true midbass should not be played over 300hz

Also, usually the metal cone (aluminum, titanium etc..) are brighter than the silk,composite tweeters.

tweeter frequency response is what i look at when concidering tweeters also

i want something that can play down to 2000 and usualy up to 18,000 hertz but i doubt anything in music is above 15k hertz ( also known as simply hz )

why ? because i usualy find that most tweeters are crossed at around 6,000 hz and there isnt much in music that i listen to from that level and up

running lower frequencys to a tweeter than its designed to play will kill it.

as for the midbass - some can argue but it generaly starts from around 70 to 80hz and plays in to the mid 300hz range. ( lotts of sounds in music are in this range )

and then woofers are designed to play from 300 up to take care of the rest.

also just incase i figured id tell you the hertz scale = its rating is basicly how many times the cone of a speaker will move in and out in one second.

example - a bass note playing at 30hz on a subwoofer - the cone will move in and out 30 times in that one second
