A/D converter with optical out?????

I would like to run an optical cable instead of multiple rca's. Is there a product out there that does a/d on one end and d/a on the other?

I believe optical should have 8 channel capabilities (max)

I use the Alpine W205/H701 combo. There is a fiber cable between the 2, then 3 short (1/2 meter) RCA's to the amps.

thanks. man. Where did you mount the 701, in dash, then run a ai-net cable to the brain? Does the 701 require a separate head unit or can i be used a a head to control my cda-5755?

The H701 mounts in your trunk and requires a headunit with optical output.

There is also the Pioneer P9 combo.

I believe the Audison Bit1 also has toslink input but again requires a headunit with optical output.

ok, sorry - the H701 is a crossover/EQ/TA box. The entire box is mounted in the trunk, right next to the 2 amps. I can control it thru the W205 in the dash (via the AI-net cable) OR the C701 remote mounted control unit. The Audio from the DVD player is carried by the FO cable back to the H701, the radio signal goes thru the Ai net. Still only 2 cables.

The problem usually comes in when all your processing is in your headunit. Then you have to have all those RCA cables from the HU to the amps in the trunk/hatch.
