9v battery question (to subs)

Can you solve it?
Someone told me to check the subs polarity I could use a 9v battery. I did this by putting + to + on the box terminal and - to -, my question is what way should the subs move? When I did it they went down. If I reverse the polarity, they went up.

Thanks,

Justin

As long as both subs move the same direction, that's the important thing.

With + to + and - to -, the should move out if you have them wired in relative phase. If you wired them out of relative phase, then they will move in.

Just because they moved in with + to + and - to -, it doesn't mean they are necessarily wired "wrong". In some instances, having them wired out of relative phase is better to the overall sound of the system. Other times, it's not. When you connect the subwoofers to the amplifier, try it both with the + wire to the + amp terminal (same for negative), and then try it reversed. Leave it whichever way sounds best.

So them going in is ok as long as they are going the same direction. Great news //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I was thinking that they should go out, but figured I would ask to be safe. It will do no damage to the subs if they are out of phase? I can still run them at full power etc?

Thanks for the info!

No damage and yes, respectively to your questions.

The only difference is exactly as you witnessed....they are out of relative phase. When the signals at a "peak", they excurt inward. When the signals at a valley, they excurt outward.
