does anyone not have a 10mm? : \
My personal carry weapon is a glock 29. I do use true 10mm rounds for it as well, recoil is manageable and I trust it to put big holes in anything should I ever need to fire shots in anger. However, I have recently been considering one of the Smith and Wesson scandium frame .357's, lighter, smaller, easier to fit in my purse, and I just trust a wheel gun to be reliable. Hands down my favorite firearm is the 1911, I own 4, one of the best designed firearms in history. I highly suggest everyone own one, just not the best option for a carry weapon for me.

I have owned and shot both. If your going to do a lot of target practice I would say 9mm. It costs a lot less to shoot, especially in 100 round purchases. The .40 is more fun IMO, and has more stopping power, but both will work if you can shoot worth a ****.

yea i plan to do alot of pratice shooting with the gun as well and a .45 ammo is pricey so i figure a 9mm will do the job i need for an all around compact gun less recoil and cheaper to shoot

my choices are the

S&W M&P compact 9mm

Glock 26 9mm

Springfield XD sub compact 9mm

The 1911 .45 is the greatest gun made. Kimber if you have the money. Springfield if you dont, and can be had at gun shows cheap.

9mm is a good choice. I own a Beretta 9, and range loads are cheap at Wal Mart.
