9887 Review im looking for...

Yeah Im pretty sure Nismo did a review, was very good. Its actually what I used when I decided on my 9887. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i just switched to the 880 from the 9887. controls, i have to say i prefer the alpine. i havent been able to get used to the pioneer's knob control, although its only been a week. for sound, and adjustability, the 880 wins hands down. looks, i prefer the 9887.

one major thing i noticed was that the 9887 NEVER skipped from bass and would play scratched up cd's. my 880 is picky, it has to have a cd in good condition, and even with a perfect one, it skips when my bass hits. my sub stage is a little more than needed though.

Interesting, I just fried my 880, so I'm am trying to decide between another 880 or the 9887. Hmm...

x2, I completely agree. In the future Im thinking about the 880, Im just such an alpine fanboy, I love the looks of them, always have.

If they just expanded the eq in the 9887 it would be amazing. Ive only got 5 bands to play with.....Pioneer has like 12 bands iirc. Thats the only thing it has thats better imo

Exactly, and its a shame is such a big factor though. Love the Alpine but that single limitation just plain sucks.

9887 is decent HU that does lots of stuff //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. Pioneer one is great as well but for pure SQ, i cross those 2 HU out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I played with a 9887 today.. its really sweet. the only thing i dont like is you need to get tuned imprint to unlock bass/treble.

I found a local shop that will install the deck and tune it for 460$. Deck is 400$ and tuning is 60$

good deal?

9887 price drop like nuts Ebay that sucker //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif .

Tuning kit, it wont give u immediate satisfy results, u have to do it couple of time to get it right

I have two 9887 decks and a pioneer 800prs. As far as user eq feature the pioneer has more, but the imprint tuning on the 9887 is really good. Doesn't quite get it where I want it to be, but does amazing things for the sound. I have each deck running active and the imprint improves my imaging and staging better than the pioneer. I only decided to get the pioneer for something different than yet another 9887. (Gotta love having four sq comp cars to play with stuff in) Unless something else really b/a comes out I'm looking at another 9887 in my camaro, possibly the clarion or a mac. 9887 is a great deck though. I have not been unhappy with mine since I got them.
