97 Mitsu. Eclipse Help

Ok, I just got this car and i am replacing the old 6x9's in the rear. Well the mount for the speaker is to small for my XS 3690 6x9's. Is there an adapter, a new mount. Or anything i can do to make them fit. I need help with this. Thanks if you can answer within the next few mins.

Are you sure you got the right size speaker? Is the opening deep enough? Are the openings for 5 1/4" speakers? I am looking at a size chart for your car and I see 3 possibilities for your ride........either 6x9 or 5 1/4 or 6 1/2. This is what I see listed for your car. The 6x9's are if your car came with the Infinity system, the others are without.
