Your best bet for sound deadning material is DynaMat or something similar to that. I wouldn't reccomend using household trash or things you might find lying around the house. As for what amp you should use, it is all a matter of preference. Some people will try to steer you toward one brand or another because they like that brand. I have my favorite, but that's not the issue. Find an amp that sounds good to YOU. Don't just go out and get a crappy amp, either. Find a good amp with good sound and make sure you can afford it.
