Alright, a buddy of mine called me today asking for some suggestions before he went ahead and paid someone to build his box. I'm not too familiar with SUV's or those subs for that matter so Im asking here.

-He figures it being an SUV and him having so much cone area that it'll get loud either way so he wants a box that wont miss a note. He was saying sealed facing the hatch but I told him maybe 6 cubes @ 28-31hz? What do you guys think?

Wants them to get loud but not lose much SQ while doing this.

Pure SQL, 50% SQ/50% SPL

EDIT: If he is going SQL---subs up/port back or subs back/port back.

well, maybe its just how i am reading it because i am drunk, but if you are saying 6 cubes sealed at 28-31, please, dont make anymore suggestions. but if you are saying for him not go to sealed, and go ported, i would go a bit larger, more like 8 cubes @ 32, 1.5 each is a bit low for a ported 12

lol thats the booze. May have been worded bad. What I meant:

-He wanted sealed.

-I told him ported (6cubes) but tuned low.

I did this exact system in the exact same vehicle. Do 7 cubes net with around 84 square inches of port tuned to 35 hz and it will do everything you are looking for. Subs up, port back towards the hatch.
