97 civic head unit help ??

i just bought my girl a 97 civic already has a system in it ,i need to redo everything , but i cant figure out why the factory head unit is still hooked up tucked behind the dash , what is the reason for this , im no idiot with car sound systems but im not an expert either , i never seen or herd of having to keep the factory head unit hooked up with an after market one

yup some factory set ups are really hard to get around so you have to leave the head unit in

there should be a bypass for the keyless entry being in the stereo, you'd have to buy it from a stereo shop if you want to be able to take the stereo out and still use keyless entry

Best Kit's makes a harness for that.

im using an after market alarm with keyless , not the factory , does it still need to be there like that ?

your interior lights may go through the factory deck as well as a lock module....try unplugging the factory deck and check your locks on the door then with the remote...also check your interior lights...if everything works sell the factory deck on ebay or keep it for a spare
