96 camaro rear diff

im trying to change the rear wheel bearings on a friends 3800 series camaro.. can't get the pinion shaft out... checked the chilton book it says theres a bolt, i beg the differ could not find any bolts.. any one ever took out the rear axles before? if so how and where is this 'bolt' ??

Well im no longer an F body owner so I only go to cav6.com once in a while.

its probably a huge nut holding the pinion flange down. 1 1/4

never heard of a bolt holding down the pinion gear??

they all have a bunch of tards but i would try ls1 tech... with the prices of used stock rear ends why not just pick one up and throw it in as a entire replacment... i see them all the time from free to $160 or so on the high end...

yep got it all resolved a long time ago... stupid pinion shaft is held in by an 8mm bolt of all things... scary to know if that lil 8mm bold was to back out the wheels would fall off... anyway, yeap all wen't well now the car doesn't shimmy on the interstate //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif thanks all that helped
