91 Golf Sound System - Help

I realize that this question has probably been asked a million times in these forums, but considering I’m a complete virgin to car audio, I came here for help/recommendations.

I just purchased a 91' Golf 2dr, and was looking to put in a fairly descent sound system.

First, the big picture. I'm hoping to eventually have component front speakers, descent rear speakers, and an amp/sub combo. Probably either 2 x 8” or 1 x 10". I still don’t' know which would be best for the music I listen to (fast punk and alt rock). Any recommendations?

Moving on, I already have theRFX9000 HU, but it only has 4x25RMS. Will this be enough power down the line?

In the rear, I want the biggest speakers possible. Unfortunatly that is only a 5x7. I was planning on powering these from my HU at first and my amp later on.

In the front, I want a nice pair of component speakers. These were planned on being powered solely by my deck.

My budget for those 4 speakers, plus install (as I would just end up causing damage installing myself) is roughly $600CND, or about $425USD.

Another thing to consider about the speakers is that, while all 4 are being powered by the HU in the mean time, I will eventually be hooking up a pair to my future amp. I mentioned that the rear speakers would be going this route, but would it be better to have the component's powered by the amp, and the 5x7's by the HU?

Also, when asking for speaker recommendations, I want them to sound "descent" whilst powered by the HU, but plz take into consideration the fact that they will later be powered by a multi channel amp.

With my next paycheck, I was going to get an amp/sub(s) combo. I have no idea what kind of combination I’m looking for, but with the other information I’ve provided, I was hoping you guys could lead me in the right direction.

Lastly, if anything I’ve mentioned sounds completely ridiculous/stupid, please lead me to the correct path.

Thank you for your help,

Reggie

Well, most will tell you that you do not need rear speakers, and that you should save your money and put it into the front speakers and an amp. The ones that everyone seems to be recomending lately are the CDT Audio Classic Series 6.5" Components from thezeb.com for $150(US). Use the rest of that cash you were going to spend on speakers on an amp (I'd look at US Acoustics or Tsunami/Avionix). Whatever you have left, put towards the amp/sub combo. You might be better off buying a 4-channel amp and bridging the rear two channels for the sub and running the components off the fronts.
