I have a 90A alternator. Currently i am running Hifonics bxi2006d and i have the big 3 done in 0 gauge along with a yellow top replaced the stock battery. Am i better off putting the stock battery back in and using the yellow top in the rear? Or putting the 1.5 farad cap i have in?

caps dont do anything either...even with big3, that amp is too power hungry to run on 90a...if you wish to run both batts, you will have to consider an isolater

well as of right now i am only using 1000 watts out of it running a RF t2 sub but the lights still dim. Do you think i should put the stock battery back in and use an isolator? or do you think it wont make any difference as far as lights dimming and it working better?

1000w isnt too terrible on 90a with big 3 and an optima
ill check my voltage tomorrow at the amp and up front but the dash and headlights def dim alot. the amp is rated at 2000rms at 1 ohm, i am running 1000 watts at 1 ohm (set with MM)

Call local shops and see if you can get your stock alt rewound. Smaller alt pulley should be a little helpful. How did you set the amp to run only 1000W at 1 ohm?

put your stocker back up front and the optima in the trunk, no isolator needed. 90a is plenty to run 2k...

I have a stock batt up front, a g31 deka in the trunk and my alt is 95a, and my car is electrically loaded... i get no dim.

It could work. My buddy has a 1750.1 (@ 1ohm) on an 80a alt, and a G31 yellow top. Minimal dimming with Big 3 upgrade (only dims at full tilt).

From that 90A, you need about 30A to actually power your cars electrical system. This leaves you with 60A to push 1000W.

You are straining your alt and it shorten the alt life span. Adding a second battery is actually WORSE without upgrading your alt.

Call up mechman, Dc, and ohio gen. They can custom built a HO alt for most cars not listed on their website.

HO alts for imports arent cheap so pony up and dont skimp on the most important part of a system.

ALSO, THROW THAT CAP IN THE TRASH.

i set it with a DMM with 34 volts coming out the outputs. THey are too expensive, like 500-800 for a better alternator and for them to swap out my stock to make it bigger will only yeild another 20-30 amps the guy said...
