8w7 help----warning i am a newb

hi,

i am new to this form and am a newb at car audio. with that said i hve just bought a 8w7 and on the JL website they say that it can handle 300 RMS ( i dont really know what RMS is and when i try and find out what it is i just get a big *** equation. so maybe someone can tell me what kind of amp to run with it. i have a gravity 800/2 that came with it is that good or not? any advice would be helpful thanks.

RMS is root mean square. It is the continuous power. What are the specs on your amp and VC config on the w7?

i jut have a book that came with it in the box but its just the same shit thats on the website

Edit: looks like your sub is a single 3, so it looks like that amp won't be ideal for the sub, since the amp makes its 300watts at 2ohm
