Hi All,
I have an old beater that I drive from time to time and my radio or system has issues. I have a 96 kia sephia and my am radio comes and goes. I will be listening and then it gets all distorted and loud like its getting interference then I turn the car off and its fine again, until its not. The sun finally baked the radio to death so I replaced it with a sony (not a very expensive one but not a cheapee either about $100) and I am getting the same thing with the new one. I checked all the connections and antenna and thats all solid. It does it whether the a/c is on or not.
The car does sit in a parking lot for weeks on end before I drive it. I have put about 3500 miles on it in the last 4 years. Could the radio itself have heat damage? I am in Phoenix.
Any ideas are welcomed, I am out of them.
